    Volume icon disappears

It's the first computer in my sig.

The volume icon disappears from the systray regularly, then returns days or weeks later. Volume works fine, webcam, speakers and mike work fine. I checked Notification Area Icons, and last time it was turned off. This time, it's on, but there's no icon on that page (see image.)

Device Mger shows Realtek High Def Audio v 1.0.64.10, so I brought that icon into the systray temporarily.

    Hello RoWin7,

For your missing Volume Icon, had you tried resetting the Notification Area Icons?
You do this directly, by opening a registry editor, navigating to
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify
and then Deleting two registry keys, called iconStreams and PastIconStream.
Close the registry editor and reboot the computer, and the registry entries should be re-created by the system.

Alternatively, should you wish not to access the registry directly, then you can acheive the same by using a batch file, as in this Seven Forum's tutorial by Brink:

I have no problem using the registry, and it worked (for now.) D/L the bat file for next time.
    Thanks, all.

    You're welcome.
The NotificationsCleaner64.exe doesn't require a restart after it runs!
Offering from Shawn Reset_Notification_Area_Icons_Cache.bat on SevenForums does.
