    Music Tracking contro

I have made music files that are my legal 1 copy for my server, often with 3 Cd's in one file,

the play back order seems impossible to control, even if i put

    track 1
track 2 before each song, does anyone know the secret to get them to play back in a certain order
ha ha sometimes the new order of play is way off from what i ripped is

Hello jim davis, what software are you using to plyaback your files? Had you checked to see if "shuffle" is accidentally switched on?

Simply rename the first song you want listed to have 01 at the beginning, and then repeat this with each subsequent song, continuing in order with 02, 03, etc.

Mp3tag is free and has auto-numbering tool

If you are having organisational issues I could be a similar fault that is found on most Car Audio and other portable devices, this is due to the way that the files are written, and that the device plays back in the exact order they were written. this playback order can differ from the way the computer displays the files, it's more common on USB sticks or SD Cards used for portable devices as these use the FAT by default which is the most compatible amongst systems Apple, Android, Windows Etc.

There is a small free applet available that I use to organise my USB sticks for use in the car (I have a number of 16 GB - 64GB USBs that I use) it's available here ... Anerty's Lair - DriveSort, it's not fancy but it works with every device I've used it with over a number of years and worth a try

WOW what a Avatar, I had to re-comb my hair it blew at me so hard

Its a its a marantz 1100.00 CD player, the D/A is a "Cyrrus" I don't remembered it saying who's doing what to sort music I do not use the shuffle either, but they don't lie when they say the led and digital out put section turn off makes a wonderful difference in sound.
    thanks for shining so brightly

Thanks snick, I seem to recall bumping into you here before,

and kudo's to Mp3tag for the most organized web design on the net,
Table of Contents being most advanced design in the world.

after removing the internal noisy led, I am using 128 flash sticks to preserve cd's.
Imagine my nightmare, I go to play " Magical Mystery Tour" and the first song to play is "Lucy in the Sky's with Diamonds"

I think you nailed it, 01. 02. 03. yea I am recalling doing that a long long time ago, on a drive i gave away

    Thanks

    update--Tried and and well,
it worked 99 percent, and i am certain it is the Marantz cd player, I wanted " lover of the bayou" by the birds to play first, and it does,, but its marked 03, then 01 plays, then 02 then 04 from beginning to end song sequence is correct, but first song is marked 03
any case,, this is not a question for snick, life does these things, I have power over it, I let it go.
really weird as he__ but music is fine and in right order.

Thank you, for me format design diversity was Side one of a record, or Side two, fat F Drive format is what they are, I have thought of reformatting before use, but was afraid MS format may not play some where.
Here's the deal, filling a 128 Lossless is not a simple deal (190 cd's) and with the inevitable deletions of a single bad song, from this artist or that, I Am Told, at the 128 GB level too many File changes and erases can crash a F drive, I have backed up Copy's of all my music flashes now.
Once I put a 128GB FD in my computer, and it would not show in c drive, Girl friend distracted me about something and when i got back, all but burned my hand pulling it out to reboot it. but many I have moved files/stuff around on and have lasted 14 for years, In End, I will try snicks suggestion as it (what do i know?) may move less stuff, but i am not sure
    it involves less movement
thanks for yours, car music is great!

I am gonna mark this as not solved as after I put 01 02 03 04 in front of files they still would not come up in order on my MARANTZ CD/USB player. How ever they did on my comp. this was a PNY 128 GB "FAT" drive
