External CD-->HTPC-->TV using Foobar2000 no audio at stand-by
So recently I added a laptop dvd drive to my HTPC using a USB adapter. I wanted to play music through my theater surround sound which is actually just a Klipsch powergate (so not allot of extra inputs on it). This requires my TV to be on and has audio coming over HDMI. Once I looked into this, there seems to be quite an issue using this method having it cut audio after it goes into stand-by.
My issue is that I have an older Samsung flat screen 40". So if I leave the picture the same for more than say, 20 minutes it begins to burn the image into the screen. To fix this problem I instituted the old screen saver functionality of Windows 7. The idea was that I could bring up a disc(CD) in Foobar2000 and then after a short time the screen would run the screen saver to keep my LCD from burning-in with the menu of Foobar's playlist. Things were working fine then 1 minute or so after the screen saver came up the audio stopped playing. The DVD drive completely shuts off. So I dug around USB powersaver areas and made sure to uncheck all the boxes having to do with saving power and it still happened. Then I dug in preferences in Foobar2000. In the playback area there's a box you can check that says " Prevent screensaver & monitor standby when playing (needed for: audio over HDMI, Windows tablets with connected stand-by)"
Which sounds like it will solve my playback issue, but that's not going to help my TV LCD any from getting burned in. Why can't I have the monitor sleep while everything else is working?
