    No Voice!

Just a few days ago I found to my surprise that the sound is not working in windows 7RC while it is working in XP. Did microsoft block it as I am thinking? I tried sound recorder with the same result and an error message 'sound recorder not available'. If this is from microsoft they should have sent a notification. Anybody has any similar experience?Any information regarding this?

Something else is wrong, sound is not blocked in any version of W7. I would start by looking at the sound card and driver in the Device Manager.

Normally, the XP sound drivers are incompatible with Win 7 (or Vista). Do you have at a minimum Vista sound drivers you can install.

Vista (and Win 7) handle the sound functions differently than older OS' such as XP and the reason (in almost every case) a new sound driver is installed. In some cases Win 7 will search and install the correct driver, apparently it could not find one so you will have to provide it.

Thank you very much to all. It was working fine till recently. Strangely one day it happened. I checked device manager, looks everything normal and XP in another partition working fine. Anyway, I will check further. Thank you.

I tried to update the driver even though the status of the device read 'working normally'. But the driver is up to date. Really very strange!
