Alternative to speaker fill: Realtek 3D SoundBack

    Realtek 3D SoundBack 0.1 Beta

I upgraded from Xp to WIN&, which is great but i've been having issues with the notorious 5.1 issue with the Realtek on board sound.

I've been able to get 5.1 sounds, but when watching videos with VLC i would be limited to 2.1. sound.

This allows you to run "legacy" settings for sound. Works awesome.... (note: have to setup compatibility to run as vista sp2)

BUT i still don't have full sound for windows media player. Any ideas?

Best workaround that i found is to double click Realtek HD Audio Manager, under speakers tab, sound effects tab,set Enviroment to room and to disable speaker fill

    Thanks!

necirs, you are a genius, I was looking for a solution for this all over, all I wanted to do was hook up my headphones in addition to my sound system which i have set to 7 channel stereo in my hdmi receiver, so that i dont have to get behind my computer and switch the cord everytime since i hooked up my front inputs wrong when i built my new computer. Thought I could fix this real quick just for a temp till i fixed front inputs, but it would have just been easier to open up my $@%^@^%@% computer. Thank you thank, it's not perfect but I'm happy to be able to.. use my headphones.-.-.

Great advise necris. Along with this I enabled room correction, set the distance for my front/rear/sub speakers and jacked up the DB level on the rear and sub to +10 db and left the front at 0 db. Not exactly like it was with XP but close enough for me to be happy with.

    Hey,
Had the same problem, updated my mobo (GA-EX58-UD5) to latest realtek sound driver but still didnt have the speaker fill option. The Room environment worked but sounded terrible before adjusting each speaker I found another option.
Audio Devices-Speaker properties-Dolby tab-check dolby prologic & natural bass, can select one or the other but both sounded better to me

Hope this works for someone else aswell =)
