The exact model number would be of great help.
- Open Device Manger from Control Panel. Verify installation of sound card and drivers in "sound, video and game controllers" and "proper operation" of sound card. If you can't find the sound card listed look for Other Devices. In either case, have Windows search for updated drivers. In rare instances, you may need to download the driver and select it when requesting Windows to look for a driver.
- Create a restore point! If you can't, follow the advice below to activate the Windows backup service, hten create the restore point before proceeding.
- If proper operation is reported in Device Manager, check that the services for sound are activated.... from Start Menu type in "service.msc" at the command line at the bottom. Look for Windows Audio, open the dialogue for it, set it to automatic and try to start it.....It Won't if any of the services listed in the dependencies tab are disabled... Set them to automatic, start them, then start Windows Audio.
- You should have sound.
- Check for additional disabled services. Information available at blackviper.com
it say my speaker info is
82801db/dbm ac 97 audio controller
Try this link:
Realtek AC'97 Drivers for Vista \ Windows 7 6.305
Did you uninstall the previous drivers first?
What is the make and model number of your motherboard? Although you state that it has an AC'97 audio controller, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is Realtek.
