Play sound from other logged in user.

    Hi,

    We got the following situation.

We have a tennis club with a central PC for our members so they can surf the internet and use the online reservation system. However in the evening we use that PC also to play music via Spotify. So we need an efficient way to change to the other user account with Spotify on it so that the sound card is always playing the music from Spotify even when we change back to the user account for the members.

How can we fix this? The users may not have access to the Spotify interface.

Hi joelcraenhals and welcome to Seven Forums.

Your question is interesting and got me trying some things...
I found i can login with my ADMIN account, start a Firefox browser window and play online radio (AOL).
I then did a switch user to my STANDARD (limited) everyday account.
I can hear the streaming AOL radio playing that is running under the ADMIN account while I'm logged in with my STANDARD account...
I can't see or control the ADMIN FF AOL audio window, and i think that's what you want.

I didn't know that i could hear another user's audio, so that's pretty cool for me to learn this:)

I know this doesn't answer your specific question about spotify, but to me it shows audio can be playing and heard in a different account than the account currently logged in as.

I don't have Spotify and i'm in USA...so i can't test your specific setup right now.
Is Spotify known to be malware free and work in the USA?

Or, can you try a different audio program that could work for you?

    hope this helps,
    David

    Thanks for the response.

I didn't know that was possible. I'm going to give it a try!

But my other question is: how can I, if I am playing the music from the other user, disable that the currect logged in user plays any music. Otherwise this is going to interfere with the other music.

I don't know how you could prevent the current "member" user from playing music while the other "spotify" user has music playing.
You said the members "can surf the internet", so they could open any page that plays music or has other audio.

There may be 3rd party programs that can control a "public PC" that could do this, but i don't know.
Maybe setting up a Virtual Machine for the member account would help and be a better approach for your requirements, but again, i don't know.
