    VIA audio, 1 port

Hi again. It's been a while since I've gotten my sound "working," but my current problem is that only one of my audio jacks work, one on the back. I know it's not the hardware because it used to work on vista. It hasn't been that much of a pain because i didn't have to change often between audio output devices, so i just dealt with it- getting back behind the computer and switching out cords. Now i'm doing it a little more frequently, so I can still just deal with it, but if anyone here does know something that may help, it would be very nice of you to let me know. Thanks

    EDIT: Some quick notes
    Soundcard: VIA VT1708S
    OS: Win7 64bit

Do you have the newest drivers from VIA? http://www.viaarena.com/Driver/v7300a.zip

    Code:
    VIA HD Audio driver package

    Download version 7.300A

    OS supported Windows Server 2003 x64, Windows 7 64-Bit, Windows 7 32-Bit,
Windows Vista 64-Bit, Windows Vista 32-Bit, Windows 2000,
            Windows XP, Windows XP 64-Bit

Chips supported VIA HD Audio Codec VT1708B, VIA HD Audio Codec VT1702S,
            VIA HD Audio Codec VT1708S

Notes The audio drivers provided on this website are general sound
effect drivers with common functions. System manufacturers and
motherboard vendors customize audio hardware and software and
therefore, to ensure optimal sound quality and compatibility,
we strongly recommend you to obtain the system-validated and
certified audio drivers directly from your system manufacturer
            or motherboard manufacturer.
I have similar onboard, VT1708B, and if I recall correctly, I think the green speaker jack is separate output than front headphone jack. Fiddle around the HD Deck and there should be radio buttons or check boxes to have the front & back have same output or separate.

If it set to separate, you'll need to choose which one you want to use in what program you are using. I think somewhere in W7 control panel you choose what default device for output as well.

Useful. The HD Deck has made life a bit easier, but i still find it strange that not both of the output jacks on the back work. But now that I can switch between front and back, I don't need both on the back to work. Thanks

Hello Once More! I just remembered the real reason i stopped using my front audio ports - physical damage to those ports. So any guesses as to why only one out port in the back works now, where they both used to work before 7?

As before, I should have done a little more investigating before posting. I just realized that it thinks this other output jack is the back speaker... So I turned it on full range and did a speaker test, and when it came to the back speaker it worked. So we know at least that these aren't due to physical problems. Anyway is there any way to turn these back speakers into front speakers so I can plug my headphones into them and listen to music, because as it is, all music is directed to the front speakers.
