Sound skips/cracks under windows 7 32bits

When I play any media that has sounds I get these periodical problems that sound like a skip or a scratch. I've downloaded the newest drivers of all my hardware.

Thanks for your help.

You can try many things but most will not work or will only work for a while. Windows 7 just has a major problem with audio that needs fixed. Submit a bug report with microsoft, we can't get enough people to complain. Just hope that it gets fixed. Most people are pretty sure it has something to do with windows 7 because the audio works fine on earlier versions and we've also been purchasing sound cards that should work but have the problem as well. Personally though I'm not counting on a fix for months or years or ever. I'm just very upset and disappointed.

Maybe this updated driver made just for your VIA HD VT1708S sound card and Windows 7 will help. If this one doesn't work try the Asus site.

Thanks for trying to help man, very appreciated.

I've already downloaded those drivers a few weeks ago the problem persists but its less.

Could it be AHCI related? first i was thinking that my processor wasn't powerful enough but its fine, isn't it? Im obtaining 5.9 (windows experience eval).

I want to mention another serious problem, when im playing video and make a pause after more than 5 minutes (more or less) when i press play there is no audio! and there is no way to have it back unless i reboot the pc!

This is a Windows 7 issue not my pc.

AHCI related is the problem certainly not - I suspect VIA as my hardware experience with VIA was not good, at the time being, especially concerning driver qualities. Maybe wait for a win7 driver

From Toshia laptops at Dells to Lenovos, i found the crackling sound to be related to drivers which could extend to chipset drivers. If you think you've done all you could with drivers update, then i would compare the PCI Hardware IDs of the device with the driver's .inf file. As hard to believe is it may sound by the system might not be picking up the correct .inf file to use.
