If you have turned up your speaker volume, and it is still too quiet, you can amplify the sound clip using the free program Audacity.

I'm not sure, I haven't ever used the sound recorder.

Feel free to play around, but I highly doubt it has an amplify feature.

You could try raising the record level.

    In Control Panel / Sound

Select the "Recording Tab", you're probably using "Stereo Mix" as the default recording device. Select Stereo Mix and then select the "Properties" button.

Select the "Levels" tab and raise the recording level to approx 80%.

Make sure the volume output of the You Tube clip is full.

If it's not loud enough you can try 100%, if that doesn't do it, download Audacity... for a free application it's an amazingly complete audio editor, anyone interested in audio on the PC can't go wrong by learning Audacity.

I don't understand this... If you're using "Stereo Mix" as your recording device, raising the record level should affect the recorded audio. I just played a YouTube music video and could cut recording level to zero or raise it until the recorded audio moved into digital distortion.
