    Soundmax Independant Front Headphones

    Hi

I have soundmax installed and working on my pc.

I would like to use the independant front headphone feature built into soundmax which from the sounds of it means that the front headphones can play audio at the same time as the front speakers playing different audio.

When I enable this set up all the audio I try playing comes from the speakers I set as default. If I set the heaphones as default then all the audio comes out of them.

How can I choose the device I wish to play from for each application individually?

I've never seen that as an option, It's either the PC speakers/external speakers or the headphone connection but not both.

On PC's with SoundMax that I've seen (all "older" PC's), it's a mechanical connection (extra contact in the headphone jack) for the rear GREEN speaker out connection. If no headphone plug is inserted it routs the sound to the rear Speaker jack, if the headphone is connected the sound goes to the headphones. On newer systems with the HD Audio (SigmaTel/IDT or RealTek) it's done by electronic sensing and if something is plugged into the front headphone jack then the Speaker output is automatically muted.
