    No Sound

My sound card doesn't appear to be working, however in the device manager it says it is working properly? is it a driver problem?

alex21 Welcome to SevenForums! Is this a fresh install? Yes possibly the driver is not working right for you. Windows update has fix my driver every time I do a fresh install but it takes awhile.

Thank you, yes it is a fairly fresh install, i cleared and old hard-drive and am dual booting windows 7, i like it very much. But i haven't been able to get any sound, I have automatic update and automatic install on, and it has been updating so maybe it is just my sound card?

Yeh, it did an update this morning as well. I went to my audio card in device manager and told it to look for an update as well.

It reinstalled the driver automatically but still same thing. I tried taking out my headphones and plugging in my speakers instead. Same problem still though, however it is saying some wierd stuff in device properties. Such as it is saying they are plugged into the front jack when i only have a back jack where the speakers are plugged in. It is also says they are headphones when they are speakers, even when the speakers were plugged in during installation.

    Any other ideas?

do the speakers work in the other os's? if so then sound card is not the culprit. take a look at the volume controls if you have not so far.

I have +/- the same problem on a friend's desktop.
Yesterday i installed 7 7068 64bit on his M2V mobo running Realtek HD drivers.
First, many drivers weren't accepted, so i had to force the install. I dwnld the R2.21 version, installed it flawlessly. So had sound. But today, no sound anymore! So i went to Windows update, but there was no new driver. I uninstalled-installed 4 times, with no more results. This is so annoying now i want to throw his PC through the windows.
Mind each time i uninstall-install, i do it after a reboot.
Any idea about Realtek audio HD?

OK, I have an update: the sounds works perfectly till I turn off / turn on the 'puter.
If i simply reboot, the sound remains, but if I turn it off, then, the sound dissapears but the driver does remain!
    Any idea?
