As part of learning, I also tried to install realtek, but did not go in. When I checked in the device manager, the realtek was not there, but in the programs and features. I tried several times both in safe and normal mode. May be it is not compatible, I am not sure. How about if I want to upgrade my sound drivers (that you gave it to me). I found the more recent driver(conexant hermosa 4.98.9.0), I tried to installed it, but said "can not find the device" or something. I appreciate so much if you can help me in my learning.

    Sincerely,
    Kimlou
You can't install drivers (realtek) for different hardware??

A sound device is not Generic, you -have- you use drivers for the manufacturer of the audio hardware that comes on the motherboard.

You will -cause problems- if you start randomly installing drivers.

I am also not an expert. I am still learning. What I did was installed the software "realtek". Then I went to Control Panel>Harware and Sounds>Device Manager>Sound Video Game Controller and uninstall the current device.

This is done through an administrator mode and upon a right click, there will be various instructions. Click "uninstall" on the software identified in the Sound Video Game Controller. The restart your computer and it would automatically search for drivers installed in your computer.

Hope this help - like I said , I am also an amatuer who also am also interested in learning more.
It is not working Kheesan. As you said I installed realtek first, then went to device manger and uninstalled the current device. In my case, since I installed conexant, by doing what you said: I installed realtek>uninstalled the current device(conexant)>restart computer, it just went back to the original device which is microsoft-the standard one.

Not yet giving up, then, I uninstalled and reinstalled realtek> went to device manager and unintalled the current device-of course, it is microsoft since it went back to it after uninstalling conexant. Then restart computer, the computer just reinstalled the original one.

    Any advice

I'm out of ideas, sorry ... at this point, you may just want to try a Clean Install. No promise it'll work but if you aren't getting anywhere it may be worth a try. Let me know what happens...

    Cheers,
