SubWoofer Not powering off on shut down

I have a set of Dell 5.1 speakers connected to a soundmax soundcard and the problem I have is that the subwoofer (Altec Lansing) continues to hum after I shut down the PC.

I thought that it should power down when the PC is shut down. Is this something that I can configure?

Only way for the speakers to power off when you shut down the computer would be if they are drawing power from the computer. If they are plugged into the wall, then no they won't shut down with the computer.
