Are you close to a radio station's transmitter site and antenna? That sounds like "RFI" (Radio Frequency Interference" getting into your speaker system.

When you get it, unplug the speakers from the PC but leave them powered on and the volume up and see if you still get it. If you do it's RFI and the speaker system is picking it up or it's coming through the AC power line to the speakers. If this just started I would suspect either a bad cable ground or just a dirty plug connection somewhere in the system.

    EDIT:

Does Firefox have a plugin named "Cool Previews" running, if so, disable it.

If not Firefox it could possibly be a virus.

Looks like malware or virus of some type, run a Google search on: unwanted music playing

From the couple of sites I looked at it seems to run from a non-windowed iexplore.exe (Internet Explorer) streaming music and ads.

    strange....

    Hi there

Check that there's no hidden popup (??? contradiction in terms but you know what I mean !!) or any browser session running.

Sometimes some sites open up other commercial sites -- gambling or Stock trading sites come to mind which play multi-media too.

If this stuff doesn't go away I should re-install W7 again from scratch as there's something buried into the system. I actually never trust cleansing software anyway - I'd always restore from a CLEAN backup image -- and if I don't have one of those then I'd re-install.

Did you download the music / audio book from a Torrent site -- this can sometimes happen when content is obtained from those sources.

    Cheers
