    No Sound

I bought my Windows 7 about four weeks ago. The sound has stopped working on my computer today and I don't know why.

The computer seems to think that it has sound. The green bar on the sound's system tray bounces up and down upon me playing music.

I have tried the following with no avail:

    • Troubleshooting
    • Scanning the computer for viruses
    • Searching forums
    • Updating the driver (It said it's up to date already)
    • Uninstalling/Reinstalling the driver
    • This: YouTube - how to fix no audio in windows 7
    • Using System Restore to turn time back a day earlier

Could it be a speaker problem? Make sure the speakers are plugged in both to the wall and the Green jack on your computer.

If you can, please test another pair of speakers or headphones with the computer.

It's a laptop; I don't have any speakers plugged in.

    Headphones work fine.

I wonder if it is a speaker problem. Is the computer still under warranty? Is the 4 weeks when you installed Windows 7 or bought the computer?

If under warranty, I recommend sending the computer in for a repair. If not under warranty, check with the local PC shop, and see if they can repair/replace laptop speakers.

Oddly enough, the problem went away completely at random a few days later. Thanks for the help.
