Problem with Sigmatel Audio Driver for Inspiron 1525

    Hi

I have an Inspiron 1525 running on Windows 7 Ultimate. I have been facing an issue with my Sigmatel Audio Driver for windows 7. I tried re-installing the drivers many times but problem still exists.

The issue is that sometimes when a sound event occurs, may its the 'exclamation' sound or the the low battery alarm or when I change music tracks in Windows media player, a kind of crackling noise is heard before the sound event is played. It is like the sound of the previous track was in the buffer and the last portion(Few milli seconds) in the buffer plays back. Anybody heard of such issues in windows 7?

Is there any settings related to audio buffer in windows 7? I am sure it has something to do with the driver or settings bcoz I also have windows XP in my machine and it does not have any such issues..

Can anyone please help me out!!! Its so irritating especially when I change music tracks.

    Sigmatel Driver Details:

Driver Name: Sigmatel STAC 92XX C-Major HD
    Driver Version: 6.10.0.5866
Hardware ID of my Device : HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7616&SUBSYS_10280242&REV_1004

The issue was with the Speaker Enhancement feature of Windows 7. Sigmatel Driver has some issues with it. So when I turned it off the crackling sound just disappeared.

    hi friends,

i have purchased dell inspiron1525 3.5 yrs ago.initially i had windows vista home premium. the problem i have never realized was with audio drivers. after almost 1 yr, i was trying to do voice chat with friends and realized that they are hearing my voice in a weird way, even though i can hear their voice clearly, my voice is sounding weird. i have re installed my audio drivers but still the problem exists. i have changed my OS to windows 7, and installed all the drivers perfectly hoping that i can do voice chat. now, i can hear their voice but they cannot hear my voice. i am not able to understand how to fix this issue. contacted dell, and their customer service is not gr8 and couldn't fix this problem. now its almost 4 yrs and still that problem is there. can any one tell me solution how to fix this problem.. before i go mad !!!! i appreciate if any one has solution for this. here r the details.

    processor : intel(r)core(tm)2 duo cpu : T5550@1.83GHz
    2 GB RAM, 32 Bit

On MOST Dell's you must use the Dell provided sound drivers for proper operation. On the Dell users forum we have found that non-Dell drivers either do not work or do not work properly.

Dell ONLY supports Vista 32 bit OS with a driver. If you have Windows 7 32 bit OS you can use this driver. If you have Win 7 64 bit, you can try the 32 bit driver and see how it works.
