Logitech Usb Headset - Sounds like garbage

any updates on this topic?

recently upgraded to windows 7 from xp and again having the issues with this headset. after the initial drivers were installed (video, motherboard, ect) and windows updates were installed, the headset worked very well. installed all my video (flash, shockwave, quicktime, ect.) still no issues. At some point, java was intalled automaticly, and updates were done, then i started having issues. music for the most part through browser came in fine, dialog however, was distorted and non exsistant. iTunes, quicktime, windows media player, all having issues now. I now this doesn't help, but somewhere there is a conflict with the peripheral programs. I have tried running all the .avi, .mp3, ect. through one program, but to no avail. let me know if a solution is found.. good luck everyone.

I have ClearChat USB headset, has been in use since win7 was installed. I don't have any issues with them at all (I know that's not what you want to hear).
Just a suggestion that may help, shut down the PC, Then reach around the back and actually switch the power supply off.... wait for a minute or 2. Then turn back on, this physically powers down and resets any errors on the usb ports where just a system shutdown does not.

I'm sorry to say this, no help or solution is to be found.
Windows 7 has a few sound problems, like the Ventrilo 2.1.4 bug, it stops responding and working after x time.

Also, the "stutter/noise/bad sound/etc"-problem on playback in like flash files (youtube). (I've the a Logitech Clear chat usb)

Clean Windows 7 install, plug in headset, go youtube.com and listen to anything.
The sound works, but is fragmentet, a stutter-overlay with noise and hissing, popping, what ever to call it.

Plug in the headset in any Windows XP and it works.

Just for curiosity, check google on "Windows 7 usb headset" and see how many hits regarding it will come up. And suddenly, Microsoft will start looking into the problem and fix it. Yeah... right...

If anyone cares, in my case the sound is only bugged using media that plays in Adobe Flash Player, games, winamp, other steaming media works with no problem.
Even tried using Flash 9, same problem.

It certainly will do that, but, since our stuff works great in Windows XP and probably on the same computer it ain't the solution.

A thing i found out is that it seems to be related to the graphics.
Like, go youtube and watch a clip, hear the noise and stutter.
Then minimize the window, or do the video fullscreen.
The noise will go away.

Is this something connected to Windows UI, or the graphics driver?
I might try to run graphics with no drivers, vanilla Windows driver and see what happens.

Can also try running Windows 7 with the most simple graphics.

i know this sounds dumb but bear with me.
Right click the speaker icon on your task bar and goto playback devices.
click your usb headset then click Properties.
click the Levels tab.
Where it say Headset Earphone click Balance.
take #1 slidebar all the way left.
take #2 slidebar all the way right.
now play something with sound fixed !!!!

i had the same problem as you all with mine hope it helps everyone else too!!

Wow how weird, that made a huge difference! Thanks for the suggestion, was going to throw them out... how annoying!
