Realtek onboard sound card: Static/Crackling noises

Hey, I recent put together this new rig. I'm using the onboard sound card for my Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Rev 2.0 mobo. The sound chipset is Realtek ALC889. I've updated the latest drivers, but there is crackling/static noise when I play music.

Currently I mainly use a 2.1 speaker system. But Ive tried testing it with headphones the static/crackling noises persists. It is not constant, but it shows up periodically. Furthermore, when there is no music/sound playing the noise is not there. This leads me to believe its a hardware/driver issue and not so much a speaker/interference issue.

I'm stumped on this and any help would be appreciated, the noise is annoying.

Do you have a wireless (wi fi) connection? They have been known to cause this. A cordless phone or cell phone sitting close by is also a potential. Video card/drivers have also been another issue.

There are many possibilites and many forum posts about this problem, here, on the Dell users forum and other internet computer forums. No "one fix" for the problem.

I hope this can help somebody...

I talk about my experience with this error.
    1) i have noise problems on audio with windows enterprise x64 and gigabyte ga-ex58-ud5 plus ATI HD 5.XXX with HDMI output.
I solved it with no installing the RAID drivers from mobo.

2)I have problems when i play a vid with AC3 or DTS the computer crash completly
I solve it going to Administrative tools -> computer managment -> and disabling the ATI's HDMI audio, installing the lastest drivers from realtek and everything works fine.

PD: I keep working with the problem of RAID drivers and sound problems.

I've had this issue. I may have to try disabling/uninstalling RAID drivers, but I'd rather not as I need the read.

Currently the issue seems to be cause by a device/driver causing high DPC latency DPC Latency Checker

Disabling the USB 3.0 controller in the UD3R BIOS seems to have fixed it for me. The issue has always begun with the Windows logo, but I've been running for a couple of hours now without it occurring.

P.S., I haven't had the issue of crashing when playing video with AC3 audio. I don't have any sources with DTS audio streams.

I've had similar audio popping/static when using both a Creative USB headset and a Creative X-Fi discrete sound card. I am not certain, however, that these were the same issue.

Special Thank You to Stormy1985 .... With doubts in my mind after trying everything for days, I went to Device Manager and expanded where it says Sound, Video and Game Controllers ... and there it was, ATI HDMI Audio. I right clicked my mouse on that and selected disabled ... I haven't stopped laughing with joy since. Yay to Stormy1985 ... what a saviour. I enrolled on this forum just to say thanks to this user.

Same experience here as that of MrThankYou. This was never a settings/connectivity/cable-related issue, it was always a drivers' issue. Sometimes it seems people just post on forums whatever comes first to their minds, it is a misleading practice and not very helpful at all, I'd only wish they reserved their half-baked opinion's to their own and let the people that have discovered the answer post the actual solution. My other wish is for the Realtek devs and the AMD devs to come up with drivers that get along, since I don't want to leave my HD output disabled till my system dies :P Thankyou greatly Stormy1985!

    *crunch crunch*

Biggest feedback static/crackling cause I found on my Realtek card was the "loudness equalization" setting.
