What is the audio system on the computer you want to use for this?

Assuming you have the workaround in place (the cable from outputs to inputs), look at Audacity edit/preferences/devices. You should see a "recording" section and there you should be able to choose your soundcard. It will probably be called "Realtek" or something obvious like that.

I have the "host" section set to MME on my PC and it works.

You also have to dig into Windows sound control panel recording tab and check the properties.

It's a bit of trial and error in the control panels because there are numerous choices, but once you get it right, Audacity will record what you hear. Make sure you don't have volume muted or the sliders set real low.

I haven't sorted out my sound properly yet, so maybe ignore this as a bit of a 'wide' workaround.
