    Realtek ALC883 on Il9 Pro, Win7 Pro 32bit x86

Have spend 24 hours reading about Realtek drivers on this and other forums, but no success...

    Mobo: Il9 Pro
    Onboard Audio: Realtek ALC883
    OS: Win7 Pro 32 Bit
    CPU: Intel Core 2 duo
    RAM: 2GB

This is a new clean install of Win7.

Have tried numerous versions of the Realtek HD Audio driver, including R190 (supplied with the mobo), R214, R240, R250. All appear to install and ask to restart the PC. On reboot Win7 reports driver install failed.

System tray reports "No Audio Output Device is installed"

Programs and Features shows Realtek High Definition Audio Driver is installed.

Device Manager shows Multimedia Audio Controller with error Code 28 "The drivers for this device are not installed".

If I uninstall the device via Device Manager, and reinstall, forcing the Realtek driver via Legacy Hardware, Device Manager now shows Realtek High Definition Audio with error Code 10 "This device cannot start". (Strangely it also shows Multimedia Audio Controller)

Tearing my hair out with frustration! Can anyone help? (With the drivers, not the hair tearing!)

    Solved!

Moments after making my original post I decided to reset the BIOS, and when I rebooted Win7 successfully found and installed the Realtek onboard audio.

Sigh... why couldn't it have done that 24 hours ago!
