Having trouble with playback through different apps

I'm trying to play audio from different applications. To be more specific, let me create a situation: I am trying to get WMP player to play through speakers and headphones through Firefox. I know sound card supports playback through different devices. I know Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation has something to do with it. Anyone have any ideas?

Go to Volume Control Panel, and turn up everything.

Headphones usually take precedence over speakers. When phones are plugged in, speakers shut off.

I think that's the way the physical wiring is hooked up.

Only way as far as I know to do what you want is with two sound cards; one for the speakers and one for the headphones. And even then it won't work unless the application in question has the option in it to use an audio device other than the system default.
