    Running Avast and MSE together

I've seen mention of this before, and I just saw whs mention it in the Avira thread. Do these two indeed play nice together? I have Avast, but also run Emsisoft with active guard, and now SAS with active guard ( I just won a lifetime pro version in a giveaway, woo hoo!). Would MSE play well with all of this do you think? I already have Avira installed without the active guard as a 2nd, on demand scanner, and have never had a virus, ever. Just curious if it is documented that Avast and MSE work together, or is it just a common experience? Thanks in advance for any info :)

Yes Bill. Avast and MSE can run together with real time protection without hampering the system performance. I m using these 2 for a long time and never had any issues. BTW, I would recommend you remove Emsisoft or disable the active guard. Otherwise, its a bit overkill.

Avast and MSE together are the exceptions to this general rule. They can be run together.

    hi !

CarlTR6: you are right about MSE & Avast.

Avast v5 was designed to run together with MSE.

but, that is NOT the only "exception" !
a-squared (a2) now renamed to Emsisoft AntiMalware (EAM) also works well together with (almost) all other A/V´s.

i know personally that a2 works well TOGETHER with other Antivirus-programs, i have tested a2 together with Avira, Avast & MSE.
i have even tried a2, Avast & MSE together, ALL 3 with their realtime-protection on, and i have not noticed any problems.

"but, in the new version (v5) to more settings have been added for the "File guard":

    1. Scan only programs before they are executed (same as previous version)
    2. Additionaly scan all files when they are created or modified
    3. Additionally scan all files when they are read

according to the recommendations from Emsisoft, if you also run another Antivirus-program.
but, you might have to choose setting #1, to avoid conflicts between the 2 A/V´s."

    more info:
    Emsisoft Anti-Malware 5, free 1 Year License

btw, i´m currently using MSE-beta (v2) & EAM together, they work well together...

Hi hackerman1, i checked the link and i get 2 clips from FAQ´s at Emsisoft: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "Question: Is a-squared fully compatible with antivirus or firewall tools? Answer: Yes. a-squared was originally designed to be a complementary product to antivirus- and firewall software. It is no longer complementary, but instead a full replacement for any antivirus software today. Anyway it's still compatible with nearly all other programs. Please note, that you should turn off other background guards while running a scan with a-squared. Other guards would check each file twice and the scan would take very long." ok so what is the point of keeping two resident AV if i hv to turn off one every time. In stead two resident AV protection i can use many ondemand scaner like MBAM, SAS where the free version doesn't prodide resident protection. And between i hv been writing everything in paragraph but when ipost them everything joind up.

It was posted in avast blog that Avast is certified to run with MSE. I tried to find but could not find that article.
