NIS 2011 Stability
Is the new Norton 2011 very stable? I was thinking of upgrading my existing version to the beta version but I didn't know how stable the beta version was right now or how well its detection currently is.

I could crash it at will in a recent build but it was only I who saw the bug and it has been fixed.
The last few builds have been very stable.
The latest build was released two days ago and so far no bugs have been reported.
You may prefer to wait as it should be released in the next coming months (Norton 2010 released in September).

It seems quite stable. I've had it on my PC now for almost 24 hours and it hasn't let me down. There is a bug in it though (I think...)
When you're doing a full scan, the CPU is just spiked at 100% then stays between 80% and 100% and will drop from time to time out of the range above but overall it's a nice product and I see improvements.
I recently upgrade from nis2011. OS Windows 7, 64 bit. I discovered that NIS 2011 and Windows 7, 64 bit are incombatible in that NIS 2011 is a 32 bit . I have already notifies Symantect that they have to return to the drawing board and redesign NIS 0211 so work with 32 bit as well as 64 bit system. As long it's a 32 bit system it will continue to crtash as all the other 32 bit software you have installed. All 32 programs are placed in A folder: Prongram File X86, which Windows 7 64 bit at time fails to recognize. So the only thing we can do is bug the diggins of Symantec, until they will fix this bug. All their tech support is done from INdia and those dipstick do not know how to fix this problem. Chatting with them is trying to understand what an elephant is trying to explain to us. GRRRRRRR. Their Beta version of NIS 2011 sucks big time and is indeed dangerous to your system. I am about to look elsewhere for a better Internet Security system.
Norton normally works fine with 64-bit.
You should post your issue here: Norton Internet Security / Norton AntiVirus - Norton Community
Ive been run NIS on 3 PCs well over a year, each running Win 7 x64.
I have never had a single 1 of them crash, or applications (32 or 64bit) crash due to NIS.
You may have other issues if you are having that much trouble.
Any BETA program will have problems however. Thats the purpose of the Beta, to test.
But, NIS 2011 has been out of BETA for quite some time. How are you still running it?
