    Let's try to reset the Windows Update core components,
    Here is an article from Microsoft Support, How do I reset Windows Update components?
    You can do this manually or have the Microsoft Fix it application do it automatically. (your choice)
    It looks like this does a lot of reseting in the Windows Update area.. (I personally have not used this before, so I recommend to backup at least the Registry)
