    Strange message

I have NO idea what this is!!! It just started popping-up last week whenever I bootup my comfuser. Nothing new has been added to the comfuser, nothing DL'd other than a few pics here & there, No new software installed (last software install was 2 days before this started happening); I'm lost. Could this be due to some sort of "MS update"?

I tried the "Show info about this publisher's certificate" link, but 2 take screen shots of the info would be a little much I think. But if it would be helpful, I can post them later.

Go to windows updates (it doesnt look like one and wants an admin pword) and see if it is there. You can also hide it so it doesnt bother you.

You should also go into device manager to see if there is a device missing a driver.

Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If y our driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

I think I would want to run MalWareBytes to see if it might be SpyWare

Based on search results, it appears that Ken has nailed the problem. Without knowing more, its difficult to know if it is for nVidia or an Intel or HP driver -- or something else entirely.

    Hello CJW,

It could be malware trying to install itself.

I suggest you scan your computer using your anti-virus. If it doesn't detect anything, scan using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware or Hitman Pro.

Ok, checked some things this morning & this is what I've found:

    1. No yellow triangles when looking in Device Manager.
    2. Full system scan w/Avast! came up completely clean, nothing bad reported.
    3. Full system scan w/Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware came up w/some items, please see pic.

Before I get rid of any of these, anyone able to decipher which may be the culprit?

I would agree with the above... It seems a little suspect for it to be inquiring for a Password from an Admin and normally, I have not seen Hardware installs report with that. Check and see if a device shows up as unknown and see if you can identify what it is.

This is what ThreatExpert has to say about newdev.exe newdev.exe | ThreatExpert statistics

Go back into MBam and check each of those items, then click "Remove Selected"

Download DDS from one of these links:
    Mirror 1 Mirror 2 Mirror 3
    • Disable any script blocking protection
    • Double click the dds icon to run the tool.
    • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
      1. DDS.txt
      2. Attach.txt <---this will be minimized in the task tray
    • Save both reports to your desktop.

Include the contents of both logs in your next post.

I got this popup (or one very similar) yesterday, after downloading an IntelliMouse update through Windows Update. I also checked the certificates and since all seemed to be from Microsoft I let it run. Guess I'll do some malware scanning tonight to make sure I'm not hosed...
