How about MSE and Avast : Threatfire Test with MSE and Avast 5 |
using 2 A/Vīs CAN cause trouble, thatīs correct, but it depends on which 2 you use...
some A/Vīs work together with others.
fx. Avast 5 was DESIGNED to be able to run together with MSE.
so thatīs a really good combination, as Avast has some "extra" protection.
a-squared (a2) which is now renamed to Emsisoft Anti Malware (EAM)
also works very well together with (almost) all other A/Vīs.
but, you might have to change the settings for the "File Guard"...
i have used a2 as my only "realtime-A/V" for months, and Avast, MSE & MBAM on demand,
just to see if a2 had missed something, but none of them has ever detected anything.
when MSE v2-beta was released i decided to test using EAM & MSE together, and i havenīt noticed any (real) problems.
although a few times i have noticed fx. Firefox "not responding", but that sometimes happens also when i use only EAM.
i have turned off MSE temporarily a few times to see if i notice any difference in performance etc,
a few weeks ago i also added exceptions for each other in both of them, just to see if it would change anything.
NO antivirus-program can detect everything, THAT is in my opinion one VERY good reason to use 2 A/Vīs.
if you use the right combination and you donīt have any problems, why not ?

DineshI agree. Spybot is a crap.
Why? I have been using Spybot for years with no problem with it.
A serious objective question.
I'm always open to know new things.

that's my thinking hackerman1, if you can get 2 AV's to "play well" together, there's no reason to worry about having 2 on your system. Every layer of protection you can get....
I haven't seen a mention in any of the posts that MSE was having a conflict with any AV. It seems to get along with all the AV's. There might be some that it doesn't, but I haven't heard anything yet...
While I dont recommend it to others running two AV's can work and quite nicely.
Mse and ESET works like butter.
i have also not heard about any problems using MSE together with other A/Vīs, but when i installed the first MSE beta, i read a note from Microsoft listing some A/Vīs that should be uninstalled before installing MSE.
i was using Avira & a2, neither of them was on the list, so i installed MSE, which didnīt complain about them.
so i had 3 (THREE) A/Vīs for a while, without any (real) problems,
i also tested different combinations of those 3, but since MSE seemed to create a few "application not responding" i turned off MSE, and used Avira & a2.
when Avast 5 was released i turned off Avira and tested Avast & a2 instead, and they also work very well together.
i have then turned off Avast temporarily several times to see if i notice any differences in performance etc.
but i havenīt seen any.
and now iīm testing EAM & MSE v2-beta...
