You may run any program in the sandbox that you want to. Automatic sandboxing takes any unrecognized program and runs it in the sandbox where it can be scanned in the cloud by the Comodo servers. All sandboxed programs use a virtual registry and file system which do not effect the running of the 'real' computer in any way. For example if you run your browser in the sandbox you can make bookmarks and use them only in the sandbox because if you then run your browser outside the sandbox none of the bookmarks will be on the 'real' computer.

Thanks Maxxwire,
I do believe it is beginning to sink in. The Commodo 2010 free version has the sandbox and it runs it in the cloud or on my machine? You've been extremely helpful and you talk in colloquial English instead of computerese. Appreciate your time and knowledge...

glennc- The sandbox in Comodo 2011 is there to catch any unfamiliar code which may be Malware and keep it in a virtual limbo preventing it from making any malicious changes on your computer until it can be analyzed in the cloud instead of Defense+ HIPS asking the user to make a quick decision about the unfamiliar code without having the benefit of cloud scanning.

Do you have cloud scanning and cloud based behavior scanning enabled as shown above? It also enhances the computer's defense against exploits if you have the sandbox set to treat unrecognized files as untrusted.

No Sir, I don't. I am pretty much relying on default values set to highest level, but the fancy stuff like which ports to block and things are left alone. Do you know if there is a tutorial for Setting up a Antivirus/Firewall/Antimalware Tutorial with explanantions along the way? I will take your example and copy it to my installation. Mille Grazie.

The default settings in Comodo get the only 100% perfect rating in Matousec's 148 test Proactive Security Challenge, but if you want to take it further the advanced settings which have a link to a detailed tutorial for each set of features at the bottom of each screen entitled "? What do these settings do?" then here's where you start...

Firewall> Advanced> Attack Detection Settings and Firewall Behavior Settings be sure to go into the sub-menus because they contain important protections like Protocol Analysis and Checksum Verification.

Defense+> Advanced> Image Execution Control Settings and Defense+ Settings Will take you to the settings for Defense+ and the Sandbox and again make sure to access the respective sub-menus for important feature settings.

Just take your time going through the different settings and reading through the tutorial for the contents on each screen and it will show you how to set Comodo 2011 tighter than a drum.

glennc- While you attend to the finer points of setting up Comodo 2011 remember that you are fully protected under the default settings and that these additional settings build upon that level of security.

Comodo has several security configurations. If you right click on the Comodo system tray icon and move the cursor over 'Configuration' you will see one of 4 configurations with a check mark in front of it. Proactive Security offers the very highest level of protection.

I realize that this is a lot of work especially the first time you do it, but I'm leading up to showing you how impervious to exploit Comodo can be with the right settings so that you shouldn't have to deal with a Malware infection again on your computer. Like Gen. Patton once said "A pint of sweat will save a gallon of blood".

Have you ever been infected?
Yes. During the years of IE6 we used Norton. It was regularly finding viruses/malware until we switched to Firefox. We switched to AVG. It found at least one threat my dad had downloaded. We tried ESET and I downloaded a program that 1000s had downloaded and a few said it was clean. It seemed to...
