I really like the Intel Core i7 930 processor in my desktop, but if Intel starts incorporating McAfee into their processors there may come a time when I have to consider going back to AMD.

I'm running Avast and MSE. They get along fine.

You can just use one or the other. Both are free. Will get you a link.

You will see 3 downloads. One on left is free and is the same as the pay AV.
Firewall comes with the paid version.

Firewalls control port usage.
They are not firewalls.
They are antivirus.

These are the resource allocations of Comodo 2011 when running on my Win 7 x64 desktop. Not only is Comodo 2011 light on its feet, but it also offers a multi-layered default deny computer security that begins with Automatic Sandboxing of any unrecognized program, a top notch Proactive Defense+ HIPS rated best in the 148 part Matousec Proactive Security Challenge, Cloud Scanning for any unrecognized programs as well as a Cloud Based Behavior Blocker and the Comodo Antivirus all fronted by the fully programmable Comodo Firewall which offers a full port stealth mode all for the affordable low price of absolutely Free!
