    Rescue Disk

I have a free iso from Bit Defender. The created CD does scans an updates itself when booted. It's neat I thought. I have two machines (almost identical to my specs) The disk will boot on one and not the other. I can get the boot up screen where you select the boot mode. (languages etc, It has a verbose mode which tell me it can't find a legit file system.) Is there some known work around? I like the concept on no OS scanning. I can't seem to find some other brand that boots and updates it database before scanning.

Can you boot the computer with a different CD/DVD, such as the Windows 7 disc to confirm that it's not a drive problem? If you can boot a different disc try burning another copy of the Bit Defender ISO, perhaps to a different brand of media.

    Different CD

Yeah it boots from other CD's. For example Macrium rescue. It's Linux based, I believe. I tried burning anther CD with the same results. Still no boot. I just downloaded Kapersky. I going to give it a test drive.

It could be a media issue. Some drives are picky that way. You could make a copy on a different brand of media to see if it makes a difference. I had a drive that was so unreliable RE media that I just replaced it and haven't had problems since.

    Kaspersky

Same deal Kas boots on one won't boot on the other. Both Rom Decks are the same model, But that doesn't mean they are both up to snuff. The first error I get when trying to boot is an ACPI error. The disk has a safe boot option still a no go.
I tried manipulating the bios with several different setting still a no go.

    Bios

I read some thread on Asus and there is some similiar problems. But I didn't see any solutions. I tried moving the data cable to another port. There is two onboard controllers and I made sure I tried both. One is set to "raid" and the other is set to "IDE". I also trie "AHCI". I am going to make some pen drives and see if I can boot the virus rescue disks.

You may need to burn a specific CD on each machine for that machine only.

"A" disk burned on PC "A" for PC "A".
"B" disk burned on PC "B" for PC "B".

It may be one disk should work on both but since it isn't this might allow usage of the scanner.
It isn't a fix just a possible work around.
    Just a thought.
