    MSE

I use MSE, not a problem. Does MSE offer a boot disk that works at a low level without the OS? Not that I am aware of. This is why I was trying out different boot disks for a rescue situation.

    Answer??

I may have found the problem but not sure what to do next. These two boards are identical. The rig that boots the rescue disks has two entrys in the device tree for storage controllers. The intel one for sata (3GB/s) and the onboard Marvell (6GB/s). The rig that I am having a problem with only has one entry (for the Intel). I tried a scan for new hardware which came up with no new hardware. I tried adding a miniport it came up as an unknown although it showed up in the storage controller section. I stopped there. I have a disk for an Asus addon card for a Marvell 6GB/s controller. I wonder if I should try running that?

    Device Tree

Got the Marvell controller installed correctly. I think I missed that when I was setting it up. Still no boot to the rescue disk. Burn a disk on the offending rig, I think that's a good suggestion. will try.

    Hardware

I started to burn a disk and the deck has locked up on me two or three times. I am going to order another Rom Deck. This has become a hardware problem and I will mark this solved. How about some suggestions for a rom deck. I have been using Lite On maybe I should look for another brand
