Link for manual Defender definitions file download

Some reason my update for Defender has been failing since the end of April. I went to the Microsoft site and the link they give to download the file for manual installation gives me a dead link. Where are their definition files located?

Right, I was there but when you click the link for 32 bit version:

    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=70631

The "whooops, this page does not exist or is no longer available..." message is all I can get. Where is the actual FILE?

    Hi fusion1,

This is puzzling. I have just clicked on this link and downloaded the file without any problems.

Do you get the following appearing when you click on the link (incidentally, this is from clicking on the link in YOUR post)?

Weird. The link I posted is now working and it wasn't before. Very, very weird. It's like their servers were down or something.

Thanks I DL'ed it and ran the definitions file. Scanning now and here is the screen shot:

If this is anything like previous attempts once it's finished scanning it just closes the window and I see no results or report or what that suspicious file was. Is there a setting I have unchecked somehow? There doesn't seem to be that many customizable functions within Defender so I am at a loss here. I do have it set to REMOVE threats but I still was suspecting it would show you at the end WHAT it removed.

By having it remove threats automatically, is probably what's making it close after. IMO, I wouldn't have it remove threats automatically, as you really don't know if it will remove something that isn't malicious and is instead important. Better to run a scan manually and check the results yourself. Or possibly having it automatically scan your computer, instead of manually doing it yourself will cause it to close on it's own. You still can have Real time protection from it without having it automatically scan your computer.
