I used Avira till I got sick of all the popups and false alarms... So I use MSE now
for anti-spyware I'd recommend using MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware but not at the same time.
SAS as real time protection and MalwareBytes as an Anti-spyware... But it wont come cheap

I agree that researching ones own needs and making a decision based on that is preferable but asking opinions from experts can be a valuable addition.

Personally I believe the best Anti Virus is the person behind the keyboard. Person Responsibility goes a long way

I agree that responsible web surfing goes a long way toward preventing infections, but in this day and age when scrupulous Malware writers encode their scripts in banners and pay to have them posted on popular sites with good reputations it becomes the recipe for an unanticipated driveby download.

As for myself I take the personal responsibility of running my browser in the virtual space of Sandboxie where I have trapped this kind of Malware download and subsequently destroyed it with Eraser.

I tried Kaspersky but I believe it is good but may be a tad slow and even annoying sometimes.... with all those pop ups. I do not go to any funky sites, etc etc... more like developers sites, some news sites. kids go to hello kitty sites, and some kids talk sites etc... suggestions?

Anyone knows a good free anti-spyware program?
Well, it looks as my slow computer is bloated with all kind of spyware/adware, just no end to them. Does anyone here knows a good free anti-spyware program to help me get rid of them once and for all? Any help will be greatly appreciated. TIA
