Kaspersky with Comodo Firewall. Kaspersky costs money and Comodo is Free.

People will recommend MSE w/ Windows 7 Firewall, but I prefer Kaspersky.

    Or the short term answer:

Whichever one you use the most best can mean a lot of things.

Best UI, Best detection rate, Full Scan speed, etc etc.

(Download Malwarebytes as your On-Demand scan)

I've used Avast forever it seems, but I also have MSE.
I use Malwarebytes for scanning every know and then.
I only wish Avast would finally come out with the 64bit version that allows you to do a boot scan, they have been promising this for sometime now.

Here is what I run on all my machines and have had great results:

    -Avast(real time protection)
-Spyware Blaster(there are some that say it doesn't protect like it did in XP but it uses no resources so WTH)
    -Malwarebytes(on demand)
    -SuperAntiSpyware(on demand)
    -Windows Firewall Control
    -Sandboxie for browsing
-Marcium Reflect Free for imaging your OS partition

As I have said before, different people have different preferences and do different things with their machines. Experiment with some of the things the nice people in this forum recommend and make up your own mind. You will find that there is no magic bullet.
