32bit files not opening after virus/spyware clean in Windows 7 64bit

Hey, I recently removed a bunch of spyware and virus issues that were frequently causing my desktop to bluescreen and slow down but after removing these none of my 32bit exe files seem to open anymore in Windows anymore, has anyone faced a similar issue? I'm close to reinstalling but I have a lot of important things and if possible I would not like to go down that route. Thanks in advance!

Can you run "SFC /scannow" a few times from the command prompt?

You might try a system restore to before you had the virus problems, and if that does not work, try a repair install.

Did you try downloading a fresh copy of any exe and running it..?
The infection might have infected the 32-bit exe's.. What error you get when opening them...?

Could you post a snip of the command prompt after entering the command (i.e. the message you get)?
