One last note before I go because this happened on Hubby's PC and rendered it almost useless. You may want to print this out for later reference.
There is a pop up called ThinkPoint (or Think Point) happening all over the net. It is a fake anti-spyware program which spreads via phony media downloads and corrupt pop-up alerts.
ThinkPoint installs itself before causing chaos all over your computer by hijacking your browser and changing your registry and will eventually produce a sign up screen for a trial heuristic program, and later you'll be asked to pay $90 for full protection.
Think Point is not a real security software so do not fall for this trickery and use an updated malware remover to make sure you PC is threat free.
A friend's Vista laptop just got whammed good with this particular BUG! This one will not allow you to even boot up in safe mode. Once booted live from a date recovery stick a stand alone security tool was copied over to the infected drive and is in progress of sweeping this off.
The safe mode /commenad prompt only option was selected when going to start that up threough the dos like command prompt. Another system recently infected by a phony av program at least allowed a boot into safe mode's desktop where a shortcut for the same tool could be used while the fake created a new admin account to lock the user out from anything else.
Be on the look out for this one and other fakes!
