Virus issue

    Virus issue


    hey friends,

    my friend has got 21 files affected by virus. Was getting an error. These excel & word files which are affected. We want to know how can we recover/back-up these files as they are really important without losing them forever???

    Its a Dell laptop No AV, No Firewall, No external HDD, also is it possible to transfer the files to a pen/flash drive & then recover it later???? how to straighten up this thing???? Unfortunate thing i'm helping my friend over telephone so would need instruction to help him.

    No a/v no firewall and no backups..............................0.o

    Are they able to open the files?

    I'm planning to get him MSE,Malwarebytes & Comodo firewall but before that backing up of these files are really important as these are his office files. Need help ASAP.

    Can you open the files?? like open them copy them into a uninfected notepad or other word doc?

    Yes...i know it sounds little wierd but i got to help my friend. What is the safest way to do this. I guess there has to be 1???

    I would suggest using a program like google docs or office live and copy and past the docs from the infected doc into the web based program. this way they can be recovered safely at another machine.

    Yes he can copy word into another uninfected word doc but how to go about excel??? can we do the same for excel???

    Yeah you are right, i just wonder how it never clicked me. Thanks for that info, but i still want to know does this work for excel??? He is doig for word but i'm little sceptic about excel, does this work for excel????

    He is getting an error on IE:Stop running script,t casuing IE to run slow & if you continue to work your computer will become responsive. Now he has a black screen & pop-up box...
