    Relock Bitlocker Drive

    Hi,

I have encrypted a driver with bitlocker in windows 7. I need to be able to lock the drive after I have opened it. The only way i can see to do this is to restart the computer.

Does anyone know a different way of doing this. For example a right click and lock button????

    Thanks

to re-lock a bitlocker drive after unlocking it , use the following command :
    manage-bde -lock :d
replace "d" with your drive letter

Lock? The drive needs to unlocked for you to access it.

I wondered this very thing myself. I tried the command but the syntax is actually:

    manage-bde -lock d:

(the "d" and ":" are transposed) However, I get the message:

ERROR: An attempt to access a required resource was denied.

Check that you have administrative rights on the computer.

Of course I'm the owner. Any one have any answers? Thanks!

    locking bitlocker

When you start cmd you must right click its icon then select start as administrator, the code to lock will then work.

Wow, I didn't put the two and two together, really. I was executing the cmd prompt from "Run" on my Start Menu. Works now! Thanks!!
