    Microsoft security essentials

Running windows 7 Pro. Have had microsoft security essentials installed for about a yer. Starting today when the computer starts the green icon is there with a check mark. If I put my mouse on the icon it disappears. Uninstalled and reinstalled security essentials. Same thing. Anyone else having this problem or how to fix. Thanks

i have a check mark, too. I thought that it meant that you were protected.
If im wrong, I would like antother to expalain, too.
My check mark does not disappear, however.

What disappears the check or icon?

Both. Not listed in task manager that I can see. Weird. If I double click the MSE shortcut, the window flashes on for a second and goes away and the icon by the clock re-appears. But if I put the mouse on the icon it disappears.

Can you put your cursor on it and keep it there long enough to say protected?

It is green. After reboot I can put it there and it says protected, and then it just disappears

If you still feel that there is a problem after my last post try this
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
Do not uncheck security essentials, perform the rest of the test as described.

    Go to search type notificatons
    in notifications look for mse
Make sure it is set to show icon always
Then get out of notifications and then go to search type Microsoft Security Ess
and click till it activates. Are you working ok, now?
