These days I'm searching for router for my network so you see I can use either that or ddwrt with these packages.

To prevent arp I would use a router in switch mod or an actual switch and pf sense.

Well I couldn't write the cd, got some other obligations. I have to download this pfSense-1.2.3-RELEASE-LiveCD-Installer.iso.gz from this server Index of /mirror/downloads/. done now should I extract it and then burn it as a ISO ?

I took the alternative route, used win32diskimager-RELEASE-0.2-r23-win32 to write this pfSense-1.2.3-usbinstall.img to my USB. It's first time ever, win32diskimager has worked for me.

Tried it on my current Laptop. Boot was fine, but as this system doesn't have two NIC so worked thereafter.

Will try on my desktop which meets the req for dual NIC.

Well pfsense is not detecting one of my NIC's. It only give one interface as valid named vr0. One is onboard card and second is inserted in PCI slot.

It only assigns the lan or wan to vr0 if I type it by name, it doesn't work on auto detection.
