It is also useful if say a friend was on dial up & asked me to install MSE for them, the last i looked the definitions for MSE is around 50mb and MSE resident protection is not active until you do the initial definitions update. Now on dial up that is around 2-3 hours MSE is not protecting you while downloading & installing the updates.
So if i download definitions prior to the install of MSE i can have MSE up & running as well as actively protecting my friends computer in a matter of minutes :)
Totally agree here...I use this method at work and at home (for friends and family). What I do is burn what I need to CD or DVD instead of a USB stick as the USB stick you use can get infected the second that it gets inserted into the computer you are trying to update or repair.

Bookmarked this thread!!! Cheers guys!!! :)

I suppose this is to examine the need for and suitability of the update. The first update searches pretty quickly, but then it's very slow - something like 5...

Q: Getting Windows Updates offline ?
I have a Windows 7 PC that will not be connected to the Internet. It has the Windows Firewall but no Antivirus app installed. Is there any safe way of getting Windows Updates for that PC? That is, downloading them off-line via an XP Home PC? If not, and I connect the Windows 7 PC to the...

I basically do a lot of windows 7 installations everyday, and would like to just grab the same office 2007 updates from a cd instead of internet. But I have a problem where I run the .exe file and it opens and closes (looking...
