AVG 9 Internet Security v Microsoft Security Essentials
Which is better? I have AVG 9 til 2018, full version, but I'm considering MSE. Which is better? Which do you use?

If it's working for you, it doesn't matter too much what everyone uses
![]() Personally I use MSE as on access, with MBAM and Hitman Pro for on demand. AV comparatives has some good info... |

I use different AV's on different machines. If I were you I would update AVG, or use MSE.
MSE is a lightweight av that is sometimes plagued with false positives. (btw I use it) Ken J |

Thanks for all the info guys. I am actually subscribed to the newsletter from AV Comparatives.
And that's unfortunate to hear about AVG 2011. I still have the version before that installed (9, I believe) and haven't bothered upgrading to the newer version - which is probably a good thing, now that I read that thread. I think I'm gonna install MSE on my netbook (and uninstall AVG from it) and if it goes well, I might make the jump to do it on my primary desktop as well. |

Re the link to the article above.
Remember BAD NEWS IS ALWAYS GOOD NEWS. Lets burn some witches while we are at it before the sky falls in & pigs fly. There are millions of people using AVG who have no complaints & will continue to use it quite happily. All AV software has glitches at times regardless of what people say. If you are happy with AVG thus far why change? I use AVG Anti Virus Pro on 3 laptops & would NOT switch to MSE . Edit - yes I have the "dreaded" AVG 2011 version on one lappy - updated daily with NO problems. |

All I know is I had no problem running MSE - no viruses either. Can't tell light weight from heavy weight prevention. But stable perfomance and confidentuality are issues that are on my mind since my email was hacked three months ago, and for a long while I kept getting "Not Responding" message.

IMHO The best antivirus is one you never notice (unless theres an issue)

Microsoft Security Essentials Hi all, Just lately I have noticed that evertime I login to my Windows 7, Microsoft Security Essentials is telling me that I may be potentially unprotected! This never used to happen....I scan my pc and it always comes back clean..... just getting this potentially unprotected warning everytime... |

Is Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Firewall enough Security? Is the above enough security or should I be going for an anti-virus program as well? |
