Getting redirected from websites...

Hello everyone last week I started getting redirected from websites on my laptop but I decided to ignore the problem but tonight it just got worst I can´t open any website at first it starts loading then it redirects me to gostats.com. I google it and it came back as a virus so I decided to run a full virus scan (have Norton), the results showed up a few cookies. I open firefox, type sevenforums.com, goes to the website (I was like woot problem solved) but as soon as the site loads I get redirected again to gostats.com .
Any ideas of how to solve this would be appreciated.

normally, people here would recommend installing malwarebytes (Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.50 - TechSpot Downloads), update and do a full system scan. but im a bit paranoid when it comes to malware, i would recommend installing superantispyware (SUPERAntiSpyware.com - Downloading File) also. update and do a full system scan. after that, scan again with your av. give us feedback afterwards.

Thanks for your help guys!!! After hours of scans finally managed to get rid of the virus or whatever it was.

One more thing do you guys have any idea of how I got this thing? Don´t want to be in this situation again.

You of course want a good anti virus program personally I have used Norton Internet Security for years. It takes care of both your firewall and anti virus. But there are many other good security suites that others have mentioned. I am running a few older machines that I am not willing to pay for security programs so on those I use AVG (free version) for my anti virus and zone alarm (free version) for my firewall. They are not as "pretty" as Norton but I have never had any major problems.

Next I would recommend around two anti-malware programs. I like superantispyware and malwarebytes but if you are using anti virus software with real time protection (which most should be) I would only use the free versions of superantispyware and malwarebytes. I have found if you use more than one security program with real time protection that you can sometimes have issues. Just make sure you update and run scans on a regular basis for superantispyware and malwarebytes.

I might have to try MSE 2.0 on one of my older XP Machines. I tried Windows Live One Care (discontinued) in the past and was not impressed. It was a stable program but it missed ALOT during scans. I have heard many people rave about MSE 2.0.

Forgot but I am also a fan of spywareblaster SpywareBlaster® | Prevent spyware and malware. Free download. With this one you do not even run scans, it just sits in the corner and helps prevent the "baddies" from hijacking your browser etc. It seems to work well alongside other security programs. Although you do not run scans you still have to update it at least once a week.
