Any of the top rated free A/V's is fine really. All have their own strengths and weaknesses.

But it's always handy to have other tools like Malwarebytes installed in conjunction with whatever AV you use.
    Well said Patrick.

AVG Anti Virus Pro is used on 3 Laptops here.
It will not be replaced because of the "hate AVG campaign" currently going on.

I've been hearing a lot of bag about AVG 2011 and its got me thinking am i safe using it? What do you guys think? and why do people bag about it. Is MSE better than AVG?

1.Bad news is always good news. Most if not all AV progs have glitches at times. Nothing is perfect.

2.You are as safe using AVG as any other AV software providing the brain of the person that controls the mouse is sensible.... up to you!

3.Some people love complaining....often the ones with no real knowledge of the situation.

    5. It is a matter of opinion....

Its not a hate campaign, its just the horror stories you read in the media. It would be a good test for your system to try out something like avast or MSE and see if theres anything that AVG has missed.

Bear in mind though, your best defence are your browsing habits.

Plus frequent imaging - that bailed me out a few times.
