worked a treat rich!! thanks so much for your help +rep for you my friend :)

Do many people use the full admin account just kinda curious?

Would it be stupid of me to right click the program files folder and set my users\liam-laptop account to full control? its only got read & execute, list folder contents and read permissions at the mo of course.

You asked a question and I will be honest. I mentioned many times in my posts that using the Secret Administrator like you intended is not recommended.
You did not have full administrative power to prevent errors on your part and to prevent intentional evil from the outside. I would say about 10% of our members are doing the same. I am not one. About 30% of our questions are about issues where the Secret Administrator is suggested; it is used and will usually solve the problem.
I would not touch permissions on system folders, that is a real road to disaster.
TY for your kind words, to give rep (as you mentioned) you must click on the snowflake (actually a scale) on the upper right. I mention this only because of your comment concerning rep but it is not reflected in the account.
Just as a final thought. In all modesty, I feel that I am knowledgeable about Seven. For your information, I do not even use an adminsitrator account. I have 2 administrator accounts and the regular user account which I use on a daily basis.
Why 2 administrator account. Well, that is because I have helped so many that could not get into the adminsitrator account due to corruption etc. Why not use them. Well, if I go to a site that has a virus or other evils, it will be more difficult for it to affect my system. If caught early enough, its damage would be limited to only my account.
Take care my friend, I wish you a Happy Holiday that is spent with your loved ones in health and happiness.
