MBAM log files and SSD
Hi,
If you choose to install Malwarebytes onto your SSD, then the logfiles are by default stored in:
C:\Users\{Name}\AppData\Roaming\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs
and also
C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs
Why the two different locations, I have no idea. There is no way to change the location of the logfiles during installation. They can be changed post-installation using command line parameters, as shown below:
However, this means that the logfiles can no longer be accessed by the MBAM GUI - not ideal.Code:mbam.exe /logtofile E:\Security_Logs\mbam_log_files\mbam-security-log.txt
I have requested an upgrade to the software that allows a user to nominate the preferred location of logfiles. I'm not sure how successful this will be.
In the meantime, I wonder if anyone has opinions on how good/bad/indifferent it is having lots of these small files written to an SSD? Do you just delete them constantly? How does this affect the SSD? What is your experience with the multitude of log files and SSD performance?
Regards,
Golden
