Trend Micro - New DELL Laptop

    Hey guys,
I'm going to be removing Trend from a new Dell laptop tomorrow, is there anything I should know before uninstalling? For example does it actually uninstall itself
    TIA
    Regards

The big mistake that many make is not to use the uninstall tool. Follow instructions and use the tool, you will be ok
Before attemting anything, make a system restore point, so you can go back and try again, in case of problems
How do I uninstall Trend Micro Internet Security Pro and Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 from my computer?

I hate when computer mfgs install garbage on a computer that then needs to be uninstalled. Don't gimme any of that trial crap.

Yes and no. I think some of it is useful - especially for first time PC buyers. I don't think people would focus on an AV program first time around if it were not installed as a 3 month trial. I myself would not have Office 2007 now, if it had not been there as a trial version. One of my systems came with free Roxio which is quite useful too, etc.

Sadly though, many people who buy computers at retail look at the extra stuff as more for their money. They actually want this stuff on the computer.

Your welcome Lloydday. Many forget about the uninstall tool, which is important. It removes all remnants, even from the registry.

Actually, it isn't first time buyers but also other people looking for more bang for their buck. I know, I got dragged along to help my mother purchase a friggin netbook and kept asking me, "Is this good?" And she has a Dell laptop. Other than the fact it was a smaller, lighter, and useful device, I didn't see the point of having a netbook along with the laptop for her.

To be honest though, I would have preferred the option of a 'one button install' option for the neophyte users. I found pre-installed stuff to be slightly problematic as a tech when you want to get the computer up and running and put stuff on, only to be nagged to death by the pre-installed software and sometimes making it so it won't work properly when you do want to deal with it.

Your Uninstaller! is pretty good at removing Trend Micro completely as well.

I think you can try it free for so many days.

    Lemur my sentiments exactly.
This preloaded crapware / bloatware is so unnecessary & annoying......

Richard - The uninstall tool SHOULD remove all remnants from the registry but often doesn't. I had all kinds of trouble removing totally a Trend Micro Product via the appropriate uninstall tool...
