Please could you check my Security/Privacy

Hi I wondered if you could advise me about I.T Security. I have just started looking into Security and Privacy, and I'm trying to make my system as secure as possible whilst still being able to use it without locking it up so to speak. I was looking at VPNUK this looks really good for a small fee of £10.00 a month. (VPN UK Dedicated UK IP Tunnel UK VPN account tunneling service. Watch Free UK TV). I also have an IronKey Personal, (https://www.ironkey.com/), to keep my Finances and other stuff safe/backed-up. I have Win 7 Pro 64bit with full hdd encryption with TrueCrypt, The software installed : Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 Steganos Privacy Suite 12 Sandboxie SuperAntieSpyware Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Spyware Blaster CCleaner My browser is FireFox with Add-ons AdblockPlus BeefTaco BetterPrivacy Ghostery GoogleSharing HTTPS-Everywhere KeyScrambler NoScript Perspectives Many thanks in advance.

    Hi, 24seVen.

Personally, I think you are being a bit paranoid about your security and privacy. What you have already is more than sufficient. Have you had a malware problem?

Make sure you keep third-party software updated (i.e., Adobe, Java, QuickTime, etc.).

    Hi Corrine,
    Thanks for the reply.
Yes I have in the recent past had some type of Malware problem, since then I have stepped up my Security. I notice you have a MVP cert so I know you have vast knowledge on this subject.
can you tell me if my hdd drive encryption is ok please.
    Many Thanks for your reply.

    Hi, 24seVen.

Just to be clear, although I was awarded MVP in Consumer Security, that doesn't make me an expert. :)

As to disk encryption, in reading about TrueCrypt - Free Open-Source On-The-Fly Disk Encryption Software for Windows 7/Vista/XP, Mac OS X and Linux, it appears you can have full disk encryption. However, that does not likely include the MBR. I suggest you back up the MBR (master boot record) as described here.

Is your computer a desktop or laptop? Do you travel a lot? Do you have a lot of personal/confidential information on your computer?
