    Cpu Speed during Virus scan

Hi Guys, I'm as computer literate as a fly, so please don't laugh. I have just upgraded Microsoft Sec. Essentials, when it asked me on what percentage I would like the CPU to run during a scan. I set it to 10%, as I am not on the Pc during a scan! My thinking is that the anti-virus program can now run at full steam without any interruptions. Is this correct, or or am I thinking in human terms. Teach me.

Hi Marius and welcome to Windows 7 Forums

I don't use MSE myself, but I've found this:

    CPU usage in "Settings"?

    You're welcome, Marius. :)

50% does seem like a fair compromise, but I would certainly try other settings between 20% and 80% to find one that suits your system the best.
