What's funny is i N-E-V-E-R installed any other security software lol. Still i will use all those tools mentioned to see if i can get MSE to install. Seems MSE can only be installed on a fresh copy of windows..lame!

I'd give it a shot RaviR, I've been looking for that article I read about the rootkit preventing the install of MSE, haven't been able to find it yet unfortunately.

    mse

might be a daft question but did you empty your temp folder??

i think im right in saying installs go there then removed when installation complete
if unsuccessful files can get left behind

it happened to me when i tried installing IE9 on second install
it said downloading but did nothing because files were in temp folder

    just a thought

While you wait for MS to get back to you, run Malwarebytes - you dont want to leave yourself too open for too long.

Save the log from MBam, then copy/paste back here.
